A bar member has approached the Lahore High Court against PPP senator Babar Awan for contempt of court proceedings. The petitioner Afaq Ahmad contended that Babar Awan has been frequently witnessed maligning the institution of judiciary during his press conferences and media talks.
He said the senator not only criticised SC proceedings but also tried to establish a secret relation of the court with a specific political party. Afaq, therefore, prayed to the court to restrain respondent from issuing any statement on matters pending adjudication before the courts and media be also barred from airing or publishing such statements.
