Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Saturday announced a grant of Rs 10 million for Karachi Press Club (KPC) and to launch 'Sabihuddin Ghausi Award'. During the visit to KPC, he said that KPC members deserve more than this amount. However, due to current difficult financial situation in the country this is the maximum that can be done at present.
On the occasion the minister also announced to launch 'Sabihuddin Ghausi Award' with Rs 0.1 million prize award money for journalists in recognition of the services the late journalist. "We will increase the club grant as well as prize award money, when the situation will improve," he added.
The governing body of KPC accorded life membership to Dr Hafeez in recognition of his 'meritorious services' as present economic manager of Pakistan as well as former finance minister for Sindh. President and Secretary of KPC Tahir Hassan Khan and Moosa Kaleem presented the lie membership letter to the Minister.
