Pakistan wins election for External Auditor of Unido

Pakistan won the election for the External Auditor of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) for a third consecutive term of two years. The 14th Session of Unido's General Conference held in Vienna, elected the Auditor General of Pakistan, Muhammad Akhtar Buland Rana, as External Auditor.
The election took place by acclamation after the withdrawal of Turkey, Spain, Ghana and Ukraine, said a statement issued here on Wednesday. Pakistan's candidature had been endorsed by powerful groups including the G-77 and China, the Asian Group and the African Group. The election by consensus reflected the international community's strong support for Pakistan. It also showed Unido membership's satisfaction with the performance of Pakistan's Auditor General, his professionalism and expertise.
