Nato attack violation of territorial norms: Masood

08 Dec, 2011

Pakistan's Ambassador to China, Masood Khan has said that Pakistan condemned the Nato-ISAF offense on the border posts of Mohmand Agency on November 26 adding that it should not have happened and should never happen again. The attack was clearly against the international law and violation of territorial norms, Ambassador Khan said in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) here on Wednesday.
"It was a big shock for Pakistanis," he said, adding that the tragedy in fact was that 26 lives of soldiers were lost and many were injured. These soldiers were deployed on Pak-Afghan border, in Pakistani territory, to fight against the terrorists, he said. This was most unfortunate, because of which we decided not to participate in the Bonn conference.
Beyond this attack, he expressed the need of a clear signal from the United States, Nato and ISAF, that under no circumstances the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Pakistan would be violated again. On a question that China demanded thorough investigation into the incident, Ambassador Masood Khan said that China was a true friend of Pakistan. He emphasised that, "China is a wise friend" not only for Pakistan but for the international community too.
