Rs 120 million issued from Zakat fund to 35 hospitals

An amount of Rs 120.25 million has been issued to the health welfare committees of as many as 35 national level hospitals of the province for the treatment of needy people. This amount has been issued from the Zakat Fund as first 6 monthly instalments for the year 2011-12, Secretary Zakat & Ushr Punjab Imran Nasir Khan, said.
While presiding over a high-level meeting on Wednesday, Secretary Zakat Imran Nasir Khan stated that, in past, the said amount was issued by the federal government but after 18th Amendment now it becomes the responsibility of the provincial government. He further said that Rs 60.3 million have been issued to the health welfare committees of 15 hospitals of Lahore.
Likewise, Rs 30.792 million have been issued to 11 hospitals of Rawalpindi, Rs 10 million issued to 3 hospitals of Multan, Rs 5.5 million issued to 2 hospitals of Faisalabad, Rs 4.5 million issued to 2 hospitals of Bahawalpur, Rs 1.25 million issued to one hospital of Rahim Yar Khan and Rs 2.5 million has been issued to one hospital of Narowal district Administrator Zakat Punjab, Muhammad Yousuf Butt, Deputy Administrator Zakat, Headquarters and other concerned officers were also present on this occasion.
