'Yaum-e-Ashur' observed amid stringent security measures

'Yaum-e-Ashur', the 10th of Muharram was observed on Tuesday with solemnity and religious fervour to pay tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for the supreme sacrifices rendered by them for the cause of truth, justice and righteousness.
The main Zuljinah procession, which was taken out from Nisar Haveli on Monday night culminated at Karbala Gamay Shah after passing through its traditional route in the walled area. The CCTV cameras at various points alongside the procession routes were installed, while metal detectors and walk through gates were also used to scan the mourners.
Sabeels were set up along the procession route where free food was also distributed. Scouts and health officials were accompanying the processions to meet any eventuality. Besides air surveillance by helicopters during Zuljinnah processions, a large number of police personnel were deployed in the city for the security of mourners.
The entry of the participants of the processions was allowed through walk-through gate, while no vehicle was permitted entry into the processions. Parking of vehicles was allowed 500-metre away from the procession and nobody was allowed to park his vehicle near Imambargahs or any other worship place.
Another procession was taken out from Pando Street, Krishan Nagar (Islampura) attended by hundreds of mourners. Dozens of small and large processions were also taken out from different parts of the city by mourners who were beating their chests to express their grief over the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
The Imambargahs' management also deputed their own security men to assist the policemen to spot the unknown persons, and parking lots for all the Majalis and Muharram processions were set up at a safer distance. Majalis-e-Sha'am-e-Ghariban were also held in different Imambargahs including Karbala Gamay Shah, Idara Minhajul Hussain, Imam Bargah Qasr-e-Zainab and other places. The Ulema and Zakreen threw light on the brilliant aspects of sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala.
