Inspector of police station Khangarh Javed Akhar, a cop Aamer and another two persons were injured in a clash between Shia and Sunni groups, here on Wednesday. DPO Muzaffargarh Rao Munir Ahmed Zia said, "There was tension between two sectarian groups.
However, the situation is well under control and we are trying to placate them." Maulana Abdul Rasheed, Mian Muzaffar Mehmood, Mufti Muhammad Shafi, Maulana Shafiq-ur-rehman and former Nazim Ibad Dogar said that Shiites had violated an agreement signed between the two sectarian groups in 1995 by observing sit-in in front of Masjid Bilal on Tuesday (Youm-e-Ashur).
They did not hold processions on their route according to the timetable. Consequently, they gave a strike call and complete shutter down was observed in the city and more than 300 people organised a protest rally to condemn this act. All of a sudden, a group of rival sect attacked them resultantly seven persons including two policemen injured.
