Attacks kill six in Iraq

12 Dec, 2011

At least six people were killed in separate attacks in northern Iraq, police sources said Sunday. Four family members were killed when gunmen stormed their house in Mosul city, 400 kilometres north of Baghdad. "Three women and one man were killed overnight in the attack," sources told dpa.
In Tikrit city, two construction workers were killed when a group of armed men attacked the headquarters of their company Sunday morning. In the northern city of Kirkuk, 11 people were injured when two bombs went off consecutively near a fuel station. Several cars were damaged.
Although officials insist they are prepared to take over security, many Iraqis are worried that armed groups may increase their attacks after the US withdraws its troops from the country by the end of this month.
