37th National Assembly session from Thursday

The National Assembly will meet on Thursday, December 15, 2011, and is likely to discuss the issues of national importance, including Nato supply to Afghanistan and 'Memogate' scandal. According to National Assembly Secretariat sources, the issues of gas load shedding, increase in gas price, and deteriorating condition of Pakistan Railways would also be discussed in the forthcoming 37th session of the Lower House of the Parliament.
As per a handout issued by the National Assembly Secretariat, the Acting President of Pakistan has summoned the session of the National Assembly on December 15, 2011 at 5 pm in the Parliament House. The Acting President has summoned the National Assembly Session in exercise of powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
This session will be the 37th session of the 4th Parliamentary year of the incumbent National Assembly. Sources said that the House would also discuss adjournment motions admitted regarding deteriorating condition of Pakistan Railways. Engr Khuram Dastgir Khan of PML-N told Business Recorder that the opposition would seek to present all agreements made by the previous and present governments with foreign countries in the House. He said that the opposition wants these agreements should be made public. He said that his party would also raise the issues pertaining to energy crisis, gas load shedding and destruction of public institutions including PIA, Pakistan Railways, Pakistan Steel Mills and others for discussion.
He said that the opposition would also demand of the government to present agreement, if any, made by Pakistan about using air space of the country. He said that the opposition would also demand of the government to discuss foreign policy for its review. He said that the opposition would also raise the issue of shortage of fertiliser in the country. He said that the farmers are facing shortage of fertilizer. Their crops could be affected if the government did not provide fertilizer in time, he added.
