Wadpa employees hold rally against proposed privatisation

Wadpa employees held a protest rally against the proposed privatisation, demanding of the government review the plan in best interest of national institutions and working class of the country. Scores of employees led by Pakistan Wapda Electric Central Labour Union, Central Chairman, Gohar Taj, were gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) to stage rally against proposed privatisation of Wapda.
They were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the privatisation of national institutions, particularly power distribution companies in the country. The protesting employees after registering their agitation to media persons then marched to Governor House and blocked the Sher Shah Soori Road.
They protesting employees said that the privatisation was tantamount to economic genocide of poverty stricken segment of the society. They said the government had failed to address key issues of unemployment, price hike, and energy crisis. The Wapda employees demanded of the federal government to withdraw the proposed plan of privatisation, otherwise they would compel to march to federal capital Islamabad and besiege the parliament house.
