APML gets permission to hold public meeting at Nasir Bagh

16 Dec, 2011

The Lahore High Court on Thursday allowed All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) to hold its public meeting at Nasir Bagh on December 18. The lawyers' wing of the party contended in its petition that the Punjab government was not allowing APML to hold a public meeting at Nasir Bagh.
The party first sought permission to hold meeting in Mochi Gate Ground but the government asked the party for Nasir Bagh. The petitioner said the party through a written application sought permission from the Lahore DCO to hold the meeting at Nasir Bagh but the application was held in abeyance. The DCO was not allowing the application at the behest of PML-N led Punjab government. The petitioner said that the act of the respondent was illegal and violation of fundamental rights protected by the Constitution. Former President General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) will address the public meeting through video conferencing.
