Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Thursday said the elected government was committed to increase opportunities for higher education in far-flung and underdeveloped areas. He said that establishment of sub campuses of Abdul Wali Khan University in different districts and degree colleges show their commitment.
He was talking to MPAs during his weekly meeting at his office, here on Thursday. Provincial ministers and MPAs from different political parties met with the chief minister. He mentioned about the government's special initiatives for promotion of higher education such as 'Stori Da Pakhtunkhwa', 'Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa', and PhD scholarships.
The chief minister also informed the MPAs about Prime Minister Gilani's visit to Peshawar. He said that he had requested the prime minister for relief in taxes and initiation of Benazir Income Support Programme for new district Tor Ghar, extension in period of Prime Minister Special Package for traders and business community and steps for earlier release of allocated funds for projects in PSDP approved for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Hoti said that mega projects were vital for stability of economy of the province and prosperity of the masses. He said that development package for construction and development and people welfare of people of new district Tor Ghar worth Rs 4 billion has been implemented. MPAs briefed the chief minister about progress on development schemes in their respective constituencies. The chief minister also approved new posts from scale BP-1 to BP-9 for 3 dispensaries established in 1988-89 of District D. I. khan.
It is worth mentioning here that buildings of Wanda Sohlan, CD Rahman and CD Diyal dispensaries remained unoccupied for about 22 years. The chief minister took notice of it and approved staff for the said dispensaries in order to provide better health facilities to the people of the respective areas in the dispensaries. He also approved posts of plumber, tubewell operator, junior clerk and electrician for Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals of Paroa and Paharpur. Hoti approved Rs 187.50 million for widening and improvement of road from Chughalpura Interchange to Pir Abdul Latif Zakori flyover on G.T road with length 2.250 KM. It is believed that the widening and improvement of three-lane dual carriageway will help resolve traffic problems.
