The renowned sports car manufacturer Ferrari has plans on beating Tesla in making an electric car soon and has announced that anybody can do it, not only Tesla.
Formerly, the Italian car manufacturer has not been in the favor of manufacturing these eco-conscious electric supercars, however, it has now revealed its plans to create a battery powered SUV that will transform the value of vehicle industry. The company respected the efforts done by Elon Musk’s Tesla but also said that ‘it’s doable by all of us’.
During the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Ferrari’s CEO Sergio Marchionne claimed that Ferrari’s electric SUV will be on roads even before Tesla’s Roadster. He asserted, “If there is an electric supercar to be built, then Ferrari will be the first. People are amazed at what Tesla did with a supercar: I’m not trying to minimize what Elon did but I think it’s doable by all of us.”
Nissan’s new high-tech SUV is more than just a car
As per Bloomberg, Marchionne said that the company’s first electric SUV that will steal the attention and market share from Tesla, will be ready by late 2019 or early 2020 and will be the ‘fastest on the market’, as compared to Tesla’s improved version of Roadster that will hit the markets by 2020.
Through this plan, Ferrari is expecting to surpass its currently annual self-imposed 10,000 car limit. According to Marchionne, the company’s future will contain hybrid cars, reported Fortune.
“We do it because we have to do it,” Marchionne said. “While there is work to be done, the new plan for Ferrari being released in the first half will include hybrid cars so going from there to an electric is easy.”
