IGP for effectively curbing bank robbery cases

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, issued strict directives for taking effective measures for curbing bank robberies. Chairing a meeting at the Central Police Office here on Sunday, he reviewed the headway that has been made with respect to curbing bank robberies and the investigations in such cases.
The meeting was also attended by the Additional IG Karachi, Akhtar Hussain Gorchani and senior police officials. A statement said that the IGP issued strict directives to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Police for curbing bank robberies and carrying out investigations into such cases. The IGP said that for carrying out departmental steps co-ordination between the local police and the CID should be improved further. He also asked the Forensic Division of Sindh Police that along with heinous crimes they should also play role in investigation of the bank robberies.
Mushtaq Shah also directed that for checking bank robberies, steps should be taken in accordance with the bank security manual and the guidelines of the State Bank of Pakistan. He said that a system should also be devised for inspection and reviewing security arrangements at the bank branches in the respective areas and that the record should be preserved. Further steps should also be taken in accordance with the details thus obtained.
