‘Maan Jao Na’ cast reveal they got robbed on film sets

After 'Parchi' managed to get a good grip on the audience, the next Pakistani film in line is ‘Maan Jao Na’ that is set to hit the theaters on February 2, featuring an Iranian model Naaz Norouzi in the lead cast.

Along with introducing the new face in Pakistan movie industry, the main cast of the movie directed by Aabis Raza, includes Adeel Choudary, Hajra Yamin, Ali Gul Pir, Ghana Ali and Ayaz Samoo. Three of the stars from the cast, Ayaz, Adeel and Hajra, sat down with Brecorder and got candid about the movie and how difficult it was to essay their characters.

Speaking about the ‘Maan Jao Na’ journey, Adeel said the journey has been absolutely amazing. "If I talk about myself I have worked internationally and in Pakistan as well, [and] if I compare all my work, I think 'Maan Jao Na' will be one of my best works I have ever done".

However, the film shooting was not entirely smooth as comedian Ayaz Samoo shared a terrifying, yet funny incident they had on the film sets, when the cast and crew got robbed for real while shooting.

“We were at a farm house shooting a wedding scene for the movie when all of a sudden we were surrounded by dacoits, who not only looted our junior artist but wanted to abduct the bride for her gold. The funny part was that I was the one who was dressed up as the bride,” he said.

Referring to the Iranian model, who is making her debut in the movie, Adeel said, “It has been absolutely fantastic working with Naaz. She is an old friend and an amazing person. I asked her to be a part of the film and I’m glad she agreed to it”.

Speaking about the usual comparison with Bollywood that actors face, Adeel said he feels that Pakistani film industry can’t compete with them due to lack of technical resources. “We can’t compete with them just like they can’t compete with Hollywood. Comparing us with Bollywood is not going to do good for any one at all. We can compete with them in terms of talent but when it comes to technology they use in their movies, we don’t have those resources”.

Alongside the Iranian model, Pakistani actress Hajra Yamin will also be making her debut. The actress said she has high hopes for the movie as she has never worked in the Pakistan film industry before and it's her switch over from TV to films.

Talking about the most memorable scene from the movie, she said,  "Every moment from the shoot is memorable but it has to be when we were shooting in Sukkur, the weather was extremely chilly. We shot for 19 hours a day, barely got any sleep and were back on the sets [early morning]".

The entire cast and crew of the movie are looking forward for the release of ‘Maan Jao Na’. Produced by Mohammad Khalid Ali and directed by Aabis Raza, the film is set to release on February 2.
