Probe to continue even after Supreme Court ruling: Rabbani

22 Dec, 2011

The Parliamentary Committee on National Security, which met here on Wednesday, directed Ministry of Foreign Affairs to appear before it in the next meeting with full record pertaining to the Memogate. Chairman Senator Raza Rabbani said the committee had requisitioned the copies of statements of Army Chief Kayani, DG ISI Shuja Pasha, former US National Security Advisor James Jones and others submitted in the Supreme Court.
The Secretary Foreign Office was also directed to appear in the next meeting of committee with all the record containing the details of Memogate. The next meeting of the committee will be held on December 30. After the end of the meeting, Rabbani said the PML-N had said that it would not participate in the meeting, but its request was denied. "We insisted that PML-N must be part of the proceedings of the committee," he said.
Rabbani added the committee would continue its investigation even after the Supreme Court's ruling on the memo issue. Replying to a question, he said the committee could call the President, former US Ambassador Husain Haqqani, Ijaz Mansoor and others to appear before it, if necessary.
