To continue chatting on apps such as WhatsApp and Messenger, you need to have a good battery level. However, instead of plugging our phones in when battery level drops, we now might be able to just let it be, because a new chat app has been developed that works only when your phone’s battery is below 5%.
Two Belgium based app developers, Dries Depoorter and David Surprenant, have developed an app named ‘Die With Me’, which provides a chat room when the phone’s battery reaches to less than 5%.
Talking to Motherboard, Depoorter said, “We wanted to do something positive with a low battery and now we see people happy with a low battery having low battery conversations. We had so much fun creating this.”
The app lets the user to make new friends and talk to strangers with low battery levels all across the world in the chat room. When the user opens the app, Die With Me asks for the device’s battery status and a username that is displayed when the user sends any message.
WhatsApp to stop working on some iPhones, Android, Windows phones
As per Depoorter, the idea also included a possibility of romantic connection as they had plans to make a dating app. “We had ideas to make a dating app where you can find someone around you with a low battery and when you meet, the battery [is dead], so you can have an offline real conversation.”
The idea of this app was presented back in 2016 and the first beta version of the app was finally launched in November 2017 and is now available on both Android and iOS, reported Engadget.
