FPCCI elections to witness tough competition on December 29

Tough competition is expected in election among three presidential candidates for Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI) from Baluchistan. Fazal Qadir Sherani, Masood Ismail and Mir Haji Lakhni Lashkri and two candidates Haroon Rashid and Shakeel Dhengra from Karachi will face each other for one post of Vice-President on Dec 29.
According to a statement of the Federation, the Businessmen panel swept all four FPCCI's VP seats of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa unopposed in the election of FPCCI for next two-year term starting from January 01, 2012, on Sunday.
While the contest will be held among the three presidential candidates from Baluchistan namely Fazal Qadir Sherani, Masood Ismail and Mir Haji Lakhni Lashkri and two candidates Haroon Rashid and Shakeel Dhengra from Karachi will face each other for one post of VP on Dec 29.
Those elected unopposed VPs backed by Iftikhar Ali Malik from Punjab seats are Azhar Majeed, Mirza Abdur Rehman and Waheed Sandal while one from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is Zubair Ali Khan.
In traditional rotation, President will be elected from Baluchistan province.
Now a total of 130 voters drawn from Management Committee and General Body of federation will elect the President and other office bearers.
Chairman Businessman Panel Tariq Saeed and panel co-chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik who is also VP SAARC CCI Pakistan chapter and founder chairman Pak-US Business Council greeted the newly elected unopposed office bearers.
Tariq hoped that remaining seats will also be swept by his panel already enjoying more than 95 percent majority in the federation.
