Partly Facetious: Our tax money continues to be misused, abused

31 Dec, 2011

"Malik has threatened exposure."
"That's very courageous of him - has he threatened the establishment for what the Prime Minister informed us was a conspiracy to unseat the elected government? Why are you looking at me like that! Don't you remember that the Prime Minister said the establishment must obey him as he pays their salaries and that he doubled their salaries..."
"Two things my friend. First, it's our tax money and need I add our tax money continues to be misused. And second, the PM never said establishment..."
"And was there ever any doubt that he meant establishment?"
"Later he said he had been gunning for the Defence Secretary..."
"And does any one believe him?"
"No, not even the Zardi's - talking of Zardi's I heard that Babar Awan is the Vice President of PPP now."
"Does it carry any remuneration?"
"Good heavens no, though it is alleged that this may imply government cases may be outsourced to his law firm."
"Didn't Zulfiqar Mirza say that this was already happening?"
"OK, but being the VP of the ruling party must give him more powers."
"More than what he exercised as a confidante of the President?"
"Maybe Awan was appointed to irritate Mirza... anyway Malik has never ever taken on the army and he even denied that he was investigating the Defence Secretary after his PM said that investigation had begun."
"If it's a toss between the hapless, but much praised by the President, PM and the powerful establishment then you tell me who Malik will support based on past precedence."
"OK, so who did he take on? The Opposition?"
"No, the opposition is no match for President Zardari's strategies to stay in power."
"I know he has started doing his job! Law and order remains a problem in this country, actually its worsening given the rising poverty due to inflation, rise in tariffs, unemployment..."
"Good heavens no! He has threatened Transparency International for talking of corruption."
"Ah yes...his pet peeve."
