'China and Pakistan great friends'

Wang Jianzhong Vice-Director Zibo Municipal Foreign Affairs Office Zibo, Shandong, China, said that China and Pakistan are good neighbouring historical great friends and people of China cherish the friendship between the two countries. He was speaking in a dinner reception hosted in his honour by Sindh University vice-chancellor Professor Dr Nazir A. Mughal on Friday evening.
The occasion was also attended by scholars including vice-chancellor Sindh Agriculture University Tnadojam Dr A. Q. Mughal, Pro vice-chancellors, Deans, senior professors, representatives of civil society, representatives of Community from Hyderabad and Jamshoro, Chambers of Commerce and Officers. Wang highlighted friendship between Pakistan and China and emphasised that both the countries should expand friendship from economic to friendship in other fields too. Speaking about Zibo City Wang said that our city is important Industrial city in China and is counted as one among top 50 cities in China.
He said that Zibo city is sister city which is located in eastern part of the China and every year sister city receive the number of delegations. Wang who is looking the City Affairs as its in charge said that they have always been trying towards quality of life and mutual benefit of the community of Zibo City people. He said that there are 12 colleges and 4 Universities in Zibo City and initiated linkage agreement with different Universities and students and scholars exchange programmes. He said that Zibo city has launched two projects to protect the environment and energy generation. He appreciated efforts of Dr Mughal for academic linkages programs initiated with Universities of China during Vice- Chancellorship of Edinboro University and University of Sindh. Speaking on the occasion Sindh University vice-chancellor shared academic and educational experiences with Dr Wang and said that Dr Wang is pioneer in terms of initiating of academic linkages and added that Dr Wang also travelled all over the world due to academic linkages programmes. Dr Mughal said that Dr Wang is also a pioneer in China for giving the concept of sister City relationship between two countries.
He said that Dr Wang is leader in development of sister to sister city relationship in between jamshoro, Hyderabad, Kotri and Mirpurkhas. He said that visit of Wang will be helpful in enhancing of cultural ties between Pakistan and China. Dr Mughal said that the concept of University education in entire world has been now expanded with the concept of community services from its traditional role of teaching and education. He said that community service is essential in world nowadays and pointed out that recently more than 1,200 scholars and Presidents of world top Universities gathered in Qatar discussed the role of the Universities in Community service.
He said that community service for the University scholars is essential and they must serve the community by offering voluntarily services. He said that now in the world Universities' role is changed drastically and third concept of Community service is introduced. Dr Mughal pointed out that he has made mandatory the community service and also community service will be mentioned in Annual Confidential Report (ACR) of the University Teachers. He said that time has come that the University should play vital role in the community and added that it is necessary that University scholars should visit the Industries and offer their services and help out the Industry by offering their research for increase of the production of the industries which is ultimate benefit to the community.
He said that the University and community are integral part and University cannot survive in isolation and added that University has to play active role in teaching, research and community service. The vice-chancellor also highlighted community services of Dr Abdul Majeed Khan of Bangladesh and said that he through community service revolutionised the community by opening of 160 schools and 15 Universities initiating by setting up of a primary school with only 50 students.
The vice-chancellor said that it is high time that the University scholars should render their service to the community. He advised them to visit the towns and villages as well as schools and colleges and deliver their lecturers on their subjects. Dr Mughal pointed out that last year during his visit to China he signed academic linkages with 4 Universities of China. Mr Abdul Waheed Shaikh of Coal and Energy Development department gave a presentation about Thar coal. Mr Nadeem Memon DC Mirpurkhas extended his invitation to Wang to visit Mirpurkhas. The vice-chancellor also decorated to Wang with traditional Sindhi Lungi and cap.
