Police bust 97 gangs, arrest 204 outlaws

Rawalpindi Police on Sunday claimed to have busted 97 gangs of criminals during 2011 with the arrest of 402 outlaws against whom 426 cases were lodged in various police stations. A police spokesman told APP that 266 pistols, eight rifles, 20 cars, 31 motorcycles, 10 other vehicles and more than 14.2 million rupees in cash were recovered from the criminals.
According to the break-up, three members of Malang Khan Gang were arrested with recovery of Rs 3.5 million and three motorcycles. Three members of Hafeez alias Hafeeza Gang were also rounded up with recovery of six stolen cars. Four members of Waseem Gang with 10 stolen cars and two motorcycles were arrested.
Similarly, two members of Bishu gang were held and Rs 3.2 million in cash, gold ornaments and a motorcycle were recovered from them. Another gang identified as Parado was busted when its five members with Rs 22,000 in cash and valuable items, were arrested. Four members of Asadullah alias Charai Gang were sent behind the bars and Rs 1.2 million was recovered from their possession. Six vehicles were recovered from Eidu gang when its four members were rounded up.
Another gang namely Waseem Kiani was also busted by the police which recovered Rs 1.3 million from its four members. Four members of Azam Khan Gang were sent behind bars. Three car-lifters of Zariab Gang were arrested with two motorcycles, three cars and a Land Cruiser vehicle. The police also busted another big gang by arresting its six members with 2.124kilogram gold worth nine million rupees.
