Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Lahore Mahmoodur Rasheed has claimed that the government has deliberately created gas shortage in the country and the recent gas price-hike will hit the poor people hard. He was speaking to various delegations that called on him here on Tuesday, disclosed a PTI's spokesperson.
He said the rulers terming 14 percent increase in gas price as nominal should be ashamed; the people are already hard-pressed by inflationary environment and unemployment. "The recent increase of gas prices will have inflationary effects on other items, which ultimately would further weaken financial health of the people," he added.
He was of the view that until corruption and 'commission' culture is not eliminated from Pakistan, there will be no end to inflation, unemployment and instability. For personal gains the rulers are destroying national institutions, he alleged. He came hard on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for keeping quiet on gas loadshedding in Punjab.
