The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh has constituted an eight-member committee to conduct detailed inquiry regarding the assassination of Late Professor Bashir Ahmed Channer, director Students Affairs and former chairman of the Department of Microbiology.
Addressing a condolence meeting attended by the deans of the faculties, directors, chairpersons of teaching institutes and departments, officers of the university at Senate Hall, here on Wednesday, the VC expressed deep sorrow on the assassination of Professor Channer and called him as Shaheed and said that Channer sacrificed his life for the cause of the university.
He also told the meeting about steps taken by him for the arrest of culprits and said that he would not sit with rest until the culprits were not arrested. He said that Professor Channer was a not only professor but also good administrator and good friend. He also explained the purpose of holding of All Parties Conference and Monitoring Committee for maintaining of law and order situation and promotion of peaceful educational atmosphere at the campus.
He said that a number of meetings of the monitoring committee had been convened in this connection and added that they received appreciation letters from the Governor Sindh on development of code of conduct. He said that last meeting of the monitoring committee had recommended unanimously action against those who were violating discipline and rules and regulations of the university.
