The Karachi Port handled 70,775 tonnes of cargo comprising 42,295 tonnes of import cargo and 28,480 tonnes of export cargo including 2,217 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 42,295 tonnes comprised of 9,103 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,760 tonnes of coal and 19,432 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,480 tonnes comprised of 18,902 tonnes of containerised cargo; 490 tonnes of general cargo; 6,238 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,695 tonnes of rice; 3,591 tonnes of cement; 952 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 2,850 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Five ships namely President Folk, Wan Hai-602, Santa Belina, Al-Salam-II and UBC Cyprus with two container ships, one HSD oil tanker and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Three vessels viz Daewoo Diamond, UACC Sound and ID Tide with one ethanol ship, one oil tanker and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
An ethanol ship namely Daewoo Diamond sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two container ships namely Emirates Yangtze and Cap George are expected to sail on Friday. Two vessels viz Berthea and Purwati carrying one naphtha ship and one chemicals carrier respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while eight vessels viz YM Fuzhou, Kota Azam, APL Sydny, Al-Ihsaa, OOCL Dalian, Maria Princess, Ashahda and Lodestar Genesis carrying five container ships, one LSF oil tanker, one crude oil tanker and one chemicals carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
