The Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro maintained that the present government would complete its tenure of five years and if felt necessary to seek confidence of the countrymen prior to mandated tenure, the Prime Minister can request the President for dissolution of the assemblies in accordance with the constitution.
He expressed these remarks while talking to media persons after offering condolences to the local leader of PPP Pasha Qazi on the sad demise of his father here at his residence late Friday night. The speaker said that with completion of the constitutional tenure of the government, the democratic norms will not only be strengthened further, but it will also help in foiling conspiracies against democracy in the country.
It is the responsibility of all the political parties of the country to give respect to people's mandate to the government, responding to a question regarding formation of new provinces in the country, the Speaker replied that while abolishing the One-Units, the status of Bahawalpur State was accepted.
The formation of new provinces is the Constitutional matter as according to it the resolution of creation of new province should be passed by the concerned provincial assembly with two-third majority, he said and added that no resolution has so far been passed in creation of new province in Punjab Assembly.
Replying to another question, he said that debate on the move of Mutahida Quomi Movement in the National Assembly regarding amendment to the Constitution for creation of new provinces is still awaited and after discussion, the opinion of the members of the National Assembly will come forward. There is no demand in creation of another province by bifurcating Sindh province, he added.
