Call for creating awareness about protecting children in emergency, calamity

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General, Khalid Sherdil has called for raising awareness among people to protect the children at the time of any emergency or calamity and old age people should also be provided help in getting themselves out of any danger in case of any emergency.
He said this while speaking at a function held under the auspices of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) here on Saturday. Child Protection Specialist Punjab Jawadullah, Advisor NDMA Nighat Siddiqi, DG Rescue 1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer also spoke on the occasion.
DG PDMA Khalid Sherdil said that planning at district level would ensure prompt response in any kind of emergency apart from taking relief measures in more appropriate way. He underlined the need for preparations by the each department, which may play role at the time of confronting any challenge of calamity. In case of floods, earthquake or any vast scale calamity wherein children are lost or deserted from their parents, such children should be taken to the Child Protection Bureau of the district concerned.
