Commodities' prices fluctuate moderately in line with global trend

Commodities fluctuated both ways in the wholesale markets without showing stunning rise or fall, very much in line with the global going during the week ended on January 7, 2012.
On Monday, mixed trend was marked on the wholesale grain markets where wheat old and new types conceded Rs 20 to Rs 2650 and Rs 2665, Irri-9 Sindh low type stayed put at Rs 4000 while the better type lost Rs 800 to Rs 4200, Irri-6 Sindh low type retained last level at Rs 2950 while better type gained Rs 20 to Rs 3070, cottonseed oil-cake low type with bag Sindh rose by Rs 50 to Rs 700 while the better type rose by Rs 150 to Rs 850.
On Tuesday, barley Sindh and Mardan was quoted at Rs 3350, cottonseed oilcake Sindh with bag was put at Rs 700 while better type dropped Rs 50 to Rs 800, castorseed Lasbela and Sindh conceded Rs 50 to Rs 2200 and Rs 2050.
In Jodia Bazaar, jute goods twine (per kg) 40x2 brown quoted at Rs 86, Hessian Cloth per 91.44 meter 45x10 Amin closed down by Rs 100 to Rs 3100, 45x1 finished lower by Rs 100 to Rs 3100, 50x9 Thul rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2950, 49x9 rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2950, 50x8 Thul conceded Rs 50 to Rs 2650 and 45x8 shed Rs 50 to Rs 2600.
On Wednesday, Irri-6 Sindh low type surged by Rs 50 to Rs 3000 while other type was higher by Rs 30 to Rs 3100, gur low type conceded Rs 200 to Rs 4600, while the other type gained same amount to Rs 5200, cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low type stayed put at Rs 700 while other type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 825.
On Thursday, Masoor Canada low type gained Rs 300 to Rs 4800 while the other quality was put at Rs 5000. Cottonseed oilcake with bag in Sindh low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 800 while the other quality was up by Rs 25 to Rs 850.
In Jodia Bazaar, Kirana items moved both ways. The changes were: Kirana items (per 40 kg): Black pepper Singapore edged down by Rs 1,500 to Rs 23,500, black pepper, Ceylon finished lower by Rs 2000 to Rs 23,000, black pepper, Brazil moved downward by Rs 1000 to Rs 26,000, mace finished lower by Rs 2000 to Rs 98,000, nutmeg moved upward by Rs 1500 to Rs 41,500, small cardamom went lower by Rs 4000 to Rs 52,000, big cardamom finished down by Rs 5000 to Rs 53,000, cloves was quoted at Rs 45,000, peanuts finished higher by Rs 200 to Rs 4,900, sago closed lower by Rs 100 to Rs 3000, star aniseed edged down by Rs 500 to Rs 17,000.
On Friday, not a single change was seen, as almost all the participants were busy in preparation for Jumma prayers.
On Saturday, small business was seen as leading buyers were on the sidelines due to lack of buying interest. On the grams side, 'bajra' low type quality was higher by Rs 150 to Rs 2400 while the best type did not move any side at Rs 2800, other items maintained overnight levels during the day.
On the rice sector Irri-6 Sindh was up by Rs 50 to Rs 3050 and 3150. On the seed counter cottonseed oilcake with bag low type shed Rs 100 to Rs 700 the best quality, however, gained Rs 50 to Rs 900.
