A fresh spree of targeted killing on Monday engulfed the city again as at least six persons including a cop and a member of MQM's elder Committee were killed in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis. According to details, a police officer of foreign security cell, who was deployed at American Consulate, was targeted in the limits of Jackson police station.
SHO Abdullah Ghomro said according to the statement of police constable Bashir, the incident took place on early Monday where Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Anwar Sheikh, 40, son of Ali Sheikh, who was performing duty on Picket No 7 where police constable Bashir gave his rifle to him while going to washroom. After brief span, Bashir, who heard a gunshot in bathroom, came out and found his colleague dead there.
He said the victim received single bullet in his heart and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities. He said the victim, who was deployed in foreign security cell and was performing duty in the said picket for last six months, might have been killed accidentally. Later the police handed over his body to the heirs.
A bullet-riddled body of youth was found from old Truck Stand in the limits of Kalri Police Station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained while the police found his body from backyard of Mushtaq Hotel situated at Old Truck Stand, Maripur Road.
The police said the victim, who received three bullets in his head, had several torture marks on his body. They said the victim, who appeared to be Katchi, might have been killed after being kidnapped. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for post-mortem and later sent to Edhi Morgue for identification. The police registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of the state and initiated a probe.
A cyclist was shot dead near Pehlwan Goth in the jurisdiction of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Police Station. The victim Asif, 32, son of Anwar Khan, a resident of Pehlwan Goth, was targeted in block 9 Gulistan-e-Jauhar near Pehlwan Goth while returning home on his bicycle. Resultantly he received fatal bullet injuries and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Police shifted his body JPMC for legal formalities. Police said the victim was a watchman at Javed Hill View Apartments situated at Gulistan-e-Jauhar and at the time of incident, he was on the way to home from work. They said the victim was a father of one and hailed from Kohat. Later, the police handed over his body to the heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report.
In another incident, a 27-year-old man lost his live while five others injured in an armed clash between two groups at Behram Bugti Goth in the precincts of Bin Qasim police station. The incident took place at Behram Bugti Goth Bin Qasim Town where two groups scuffled each other over land dispute.
Meanwhile, both groups sprayed each others with bullets, leaving six persons including Kashif Ali Bugti, Talib Hussain Bugti, Wali Khan, Qurban, Saif and Zahid Shah injured
Following the incident, heavy contingent of the police and the rangers rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Wounded persons were shifted to JPMC for treatment where Kashif Ali Bugti, 27, son of Qurban Bugti succumbed to his injuries. No case was registered while nobody was arrested till filing of this report.
A famous religious folk artist, who was also a member of MQM's elder Committee namely Syed Qalbe Abbas Rizvi son of Hyder Abbas Rizvi lost his live during treatment at ASH on Monday. Police said the victim received fatal bullet injuries on Saturday when he was standing outside of grocery shop located in Sector 7-A Surjani Town. The police said the victim, who was the resident of same area where the incident took place, was also a member of MQM elder Committee.
They suspected that he might have been murdered over sectarian ground while investigation was underway to ascertain the facts. The body was shifted to Ancholi for his funeral process and later he was buried in Wadi Hussain Graveyard. A case 16/12 was registered against unidentified men on the complaint of victim's son Danish.
Yet another man was gunned down at MPR Colony Baloch Goth in the limits of Orangi Town Police Station. The incident took place at Rehman Hotel situated at Baloch Goth MPR Colony Orangi Town, where Mohammad Ayub, 29, son of Noor Mohammad was targeted by his friends while having tea with them. The police said the victims and his two friends exchanged hot words with each others that ultimately forced one of his friends to pull out his weapon and opened fire on the victim. Resultantly he received single bullet in his head and died on the spot. After committing this heinous crime, the culprits managed to flee from the scene while the body was shifted to ASH for medico legal formalities.
