13 Jan, 2012

UK Trade Minister Lord Stephen Green has said that trade between Pakistan and the United Kingdom will double in five years. In an exclusive interview with BR Research (to be published on Monday, January 16, 2012), the UK Trade Minister said that trade between both countries increased by around 20 percent in 2011 compared to the previous year; adding that this trend would help achieve the targeted growth in trade between the two countries by the end of 2015.
Led by British Prime Minister David Cameron and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, strategic dialogue has continued between the two countries. Lord Green was in Pakistan for his maiden visit as part of trade talks under this initiative. During his visit the trade minister met PM Gilani, foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar and other officials. He also visited the manufacturing facilities of GlaxoSmithKIine. Earlier in the day, Lord Green inaugurated the first outlet of UK-based retailer Debenhams.
