Alleged activist of banned LJ held

Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Sindh Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested an alleged member of banned outfit Lashkar Jhangvi (LJ) with weapons and high explosive material at Hub River Road. According to SP CID Mazhar Mashwani, the CID team on a tipoff conducted a raid at Hub River Road that led to have arrested an alleged member of LJ namely Riyaz Ahmed alias Riyaz Afghani alias Zahid Hussain Gilgiti after brief encounter.
He said the police had also recovered two hand grenades, one repeater and two pistols from his possession. He said the government had declared the accused Riyaz as most wanted criminal and had fixed a bounty of Rs 0.5 million on his arrest and added that the detained person had committed several heinous crimes across the country.
Mashwani further said the accused Riyaz was also responsible to generate funds for his organisation besides arranging all legal assistance to his arrested accomplices including Akram Lahori, Mufti Eid Mohammad, Asif alias Choto and others. He said the accused during initial course of investigation confessed to have given a killing contract to Usman Choto for one of the Shia leader in Karachi. Further investigation is underway.
