Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit has been appointed as ambassador to Germany, a Foreign Office statement said on Friday. Basit is expected to take up his new assignment in Berlin soon. A career diplomat, Basit joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1982 and served in different capacities in Pakistan missions in Moscow, New York, Geneva and London.
