Speakers call for joint efforts to cope with sectarianism

Speakers at a seminar have called for joint efforts to promote peace and justice and purge the country of the menace of regionalism and sectarianism. Addressing as chief guest at a seminar Central Chairman of National Peace and Justice Council, Mian Abdul Waheed said that Islam ordains peace, justice, brotherhood and interfaith harmony.
"It is duty of the entire nation to work together for promotion of peace and justice and purge the country of regionalism and sectarianism," he said. The seminar on `National Peace and Justice' was organised by renowned social figure and President of National Peace and Justice Council (Islamabad Chapter), Amjad Hussain Malik.
Mian Abdul Waheed said the rule of law and quick dispensations of justice were two basic ingredients to improve the present situation and the country and informed the audience that the council was established to support such efforts. "I will try my best to fulfil this responsibility." He said the council was set up seven months ago and its central secretariat was set up in Lahore and the election of its office bearers had already been completed in the entire country and also in 46 countries.
He asked the intellectuals and people belonging to all walks of life to support them in their noble cause and achieve the objective of peace and justice. He expressed the confidence that the president of the council of Islamabad chapter would make every effort in making the organisation a strong and functional body. Florida-based Poet, Sabir Hussain Sabir, currently visiting Pakistan, urged the writers and intellectuals to project Kashmir and Palestine issues in their writings and also highlight injustices against the Muslims.
"Alongside promoting peace, we should not forget our Kashmiri brethren who are victim to Indian subjugation in occupied Kashmir," he added. In his address, Amjad Hussain Malik welcomed the distinguished guests, speakers and participants of the seminar and reiterated to utilise all his sources and energy for promotion of peace, justice and protection of the rights of the people.
