Overcharging, poor hygiene: 22 shopkeepers, four hotels fined

During surprise price checking and inspection of hotels and bakeries, fines were imposed on 22 shopkeepers for not displaying the rate list of fruit and vegetables while four hotels and two bakeries were fined for not observing hygiene and sanitation rules in the secretariat sub-division area of federal capital.
Assistant Commissioner (secretariat) here, Nauman Yousuf, during the surprise price checking of food items and hotels and bakeries in Rawal Town, imposed fine amounting to Rs 18,000 on 22 profiteers for overcharging and not displaying the rate list of food items including fruit and vegetables. He also fined four hotels and two bakeries during the course of inspection of hotels and bakeries in the area for poor sanitary conditions in the kitchens and not following hygiene and sanitation rules there.
He issued on the spot directions to the violators to improve sanitary conditions and ensure quality of food items, failing which stern action would be taken against them.
