In a brief sitting, the Sindh Assembly on Monday could only offer fateha for the deceased provincial lawmaker of the ruling PPP, Syed Mohsin Shah Bukhari who died on Monday, January 13, and left the daily business undone. The Sindh Assembly, with Nisar Khohro in chair, met for 25 minutes on its 13th sitting of the continued session, which was adjourned till Tuesday morning, January 17, 2012, on account of the MPA's death.
Late Bukhari belonged to Tando Muhammad Khan and Hyderabad. He was born in 1951. He was elected to Sindh Assembly five times namely in1981, 1990, 1993, 1997 and 2008 and he also served as a Sindh Food Minister. He was the member of Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
"This is to inform with extreme grief that Syed Mohsin Shah Bukhari sitting Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh has expired," says an obituary note issued by Secretary Sindh Assembly Hadi Bux. At beginning of the assembly proceedings, there were only 36 legislators present, which increased at the end to 50, it was observed.
Only the parliamentary leader of the MQM was seen in the House while those of the ruling PPP, PML-F, NPP, PML, PML-Q (FB) and ANP were absent. The Chief Minister also did not attend the assembly proceedings. However, ANP's Sindh Labour Minister, Amir Nawab arrived at the assembly premises just after the House had been adjourned. The Speaker after fateha announced the House adjournment till Tuesday morning, January 17, 2012 at 10 am.
