The Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) directed US businessman Mansoor Ijaz, former US Ambassador Husain Haqqani and Director General ISI Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha to submit their dispositions before the committee till January 23. Senator Raza Rabbani chaired the PCNS meeting of the committee here on Monday.
The committee, while reviewing the Memogate case also summoned Mansoor Ijaz to appear before the committee in person on January 26. Mansoor Ijaz, through his counsel Mohammad Akhram Sheikh assured the three-member judicial commission that he would appear before the court on January 24. After the meeting, Rabbani informed the media that a notice would also be handed over to Ijaz through Pakistan Embassy in the US.
President Asif Ali Zardari has already made it clear that he would accept only the decision of the PCNS in the memo case. In an interview with a private TV channel, the President said he believed in the supremacy of the parliament. The memo investigations are being carried out simultaneously by parliament and the judicial commission constituted by Supreme Court of Pakistan. The Supreme Court has given a deadline to the Judicial Commission for memo investigation, but the PCNS does not have any deadline to complete the probe in this regard.
