Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 282,974 tonnes of cargo comprising 191,378 tonnes of import cargo and 91,596 tonnes of export cargo including 4,383 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 191,378 tonnes comprised of 71,073 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,082 tonnes of general cargo; 38,965 tonnes of bulk cargo: 38,930 tonnes of coal; 35 tonnes of pipes and 80,258 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 91,596 tonnes comprised of 70,691 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5 tonnes of general cargo; 5,896 tonnes of cement and 15,004 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Sixteen ships namely OEL Trust, Abtin-1, YM Fuzhou, Kota Akbar, Rio Brovo, YM Taichung, APL Guangzhou, Purwati, Maria Princess, Patriotic, MT Quetta, Ginga Lanner, DL Sunflower, Fade-1, Sai Sunrise and Sea Wave with seven container ships, six oil tankers, one wheat carrier, one sulphur ship and one cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eleven vessels viz Kota Akbar, Abtin-1, MOL Bravery, Cape Moreton, Hyundai Highness, Ginga Lanner, Patriotic, DL Sunflower, Stolt Breland, MT Karachi and Teamworth No 1 with five container ships, five oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely Capricornus Leader, Jin Fu, Stolt Breland and MOL Bravery with one vehicles carrier, one coal carrier, one oil tanker and one container ship respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while two ships namely Hyundai Highness and MT Karachi carrying one container ship and one oil tanker are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Five vessels viz Bunga Raya Lapan, CS Discovery, Shayan-1, Star Cosmo and Lotus carrying three container ships, one coal carrier and one steel coils ship respectively due to arrive on Monday, while four vessels viz Kota Carum, Marcampania, Sino South and MT Lahore carrying two container ships, one project cargo ship and one crude oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

The total export cargo includes 10,108 tonnes of containerised cargo. A container ship namely CV Maersk Carolina sailed out to sea on Monday morning. A total number of six vessels CV Maersk Carolina, MV Hiba Al-Noor-B, MT Golden Ambrasia, MT Chemroute Sun, MT Estia and MV Ocean Eagle are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, chemicals, palm oil, furnace oil and coal respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Akaki, Al-Salam-II, Fenghai-11, Bunga Angsana and La Paloma with one furnace oil tanker, one diesel oil tanker, two palm oil tankers and one rice carrier are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A container vessel viz CV CMC CGM Jade is expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Monday.
