19 Jan, 2012

The Executive Board Meeting of NAB took a serious notice of a lack of response from AG''s Branch of GHQ despite four reminders in the case of NLC scam involving huge losses worth billions of rupees allegedly incurred by Lieutenant General Afzal Muzaffar (Retd), Lieutenant General Khalid Munir (Retd) and Major General Khalid Zahir Akhtar(Retd).
The meeting, which was held with Adm Fasih Bokhari (Retd) in the chair here on Wednesday decided to write a letter to Ministry Defence in the matter to inquire whether or not any proceedings were going on against these officials. If no response is received from the ministry within a week, the NAB would take cognisance of the matter and proceed according to law.
The Board was authorised to conduct investigations into misappropriation of funds through the acquisition of land by Workers Welfare Board for the construction of labour complex at Kot Najeebullah in Distt Haripur.
The meeting accepted the voluntary returns of Farrukh Ali Shah XEN, Wapda and Abdul Hafeez Nagi superintending Engineer Gepco. The Board also approved the closure of inquiries against Fazal Dad Kakar, DG, and Muhammad Shah Bukhari Project Director of National Museum Karachi due to a lack of evidence and on the report of PWD that the work done on the project was found to be of quality. In another case of traffic police Karachi, the inquiry was closed when it was found that no proof of corruption was available.-PR
