ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Abbassi Tuesday informed the Senate that there was no plan to privatize Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the management was working hard to restructure it and to regain its glory of the past.
“ Practically, I have no knowledge that any move is being made to privatize the national airline and do not see any process to privatize PIA as privatization process may take 3 to 5 years,” he added.
He said it was not possible to privatize the PIA in remaining 4 months.
He said after presentation of report under Rule 265A of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate 2012, on the status of implementation of the recommendations contained in the second interim report of the Special Committee on the performance of the PIA.
