KARACHI: Japanese Consul General (CG) to Karachi Toshikazu Isomura on Tuesday called on Chairperson of Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) Naheed Memon at her office here.
Talking to the Japanese CG, Naheed said that the friendly old relations between Japan and Pakistan can further be strengthened through mutual cooperation in different sectors, according to a statement.
Exchanging views on various matters of mutual interests, she said the volume of the mutual trade between Pakistan and Japan is around $1.75 billion per year which include exports and imports.
The exports from Pakistan to Japan has decreased to some extend which, she said we want to increase the same and the cooperation of the Japanese CG is needed in this regard.
She stressed upon further mobilizing the Pak-Japan Business Forum and said if Japan is interested in investment in some particular sectors in Pakistan, the SBI is ready to extend all possible cooperation.
The SBI Chairperson said that the establishment of Special Economic Zone can also be discussed.
She said that the Japanese investors are aware regarding the investment in Pakistan and the feel comfortable in here.
The Japanese CG agreed with the SBI Chairperson and said that more benefits can be obtained from the investment opportunities through exchange of trade delegations and agreed to extend every possible cooperation to this effect.
The CG of Japan intends to enhance the trade in textile, sports goods, surgical items, sea food, leather items and Mango imports from Pakistan.
Talking to the Japanese Envoy, Naheed Memon said that Pakistan also wants the cooperation of Japan in Information Technology, education and vocational training sectors.
