The cold and dry weather forecasted to grip the country with foggy and misty conditions in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Sukkur division in the next 24 hours, the met office said on Thursday. "A fresh western disturbance would likely to affect south-western parts of Balochistan from Saturday and would likely to extend to upper parts of Pakistan on Sunday.
This weather system is likely to last for 2-3 days," the office said in its weather summary. It said, however, isolated rain and snowfall may occur over the hills of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Malakand, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during night/early morning.
In the last 24 hours, it said weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country. However, isolated rain/snowfall, in some places, occurred over the hills of Malakand division and Kashmir. Kalam emerged with lowest temperature of minus 16 degree centigrade, Skardu and Parachinar minus 13 degree centigrade each. Karachi's weather is expected to remain cold and dry with minimum temperature between 10 degree centigrade and 12 degree centigrade in the next 24 hours, the met office forecast.
