The Karachi Port handled 133,454 tonnes of cargo comprising 108,274 tonnes of import cargo and 25,180 tonnes of export cargo including 5,615 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 108,274 tonnes comprised of 39,640 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,619 tonnes of general cargo; 21,336 tonnes of bulk cargo and 38,679 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,180 tonnes comprised of 17,952 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,875 tonnes of general cargo and 3,353 tonnes of bulk cargo. Six ships sailed out to sea during the reported period. Three vessels are currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 74,853 tonnes includes 35,695 tonnes of diesel oil; 19,667 tonnes of palm oil; 2,841 tonnes of steel coils; 8,520 tonnes of canola seeds and 8,130 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 11,769 tonnes includes 1,821 tonnes of rice; 3,464 tonnes of cement and 6,484 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV Safmarine Nagami and MT Pine Galaxy sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while two more ships namely CV MSC Jade and MT Pacific Friend sailed out to sea on Saturday morning.
A total number of eight vessels CV MSC Jade, CV Safmarine Nagami, MT Pacific Friend, MV Leopard-B, MT Bunga Angsana, MT Al-Soor-II, MV LA Paloma and MV Ataman are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, steel coils, palm oil, diesel oil, rice and canola seeds respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely Akaki, Fair Spirit, Al-Soor-II and MSC Carla with one container ship, two furnace oil tankers, one diesel oil tanker and one container ship are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of two vessels viz CV MSC Carla and MT Akaki carrying containers and furnace oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Saturday.
