PPP has finalised names of Aitzaz Ahsan and Babar Awan for upcoming Senate elections on general seats, said party sources. The consultation process to this effect got completed on Saturday participated by Faryal Talpur, Jehangir Badar, Raja Riaz and Imtiaz Safdar Warraich.
According to the party sources, the consultative committee finalised the names of duo lawyers of the party leadership. Recommendations of the committee would be sent to the party leadership for formal approval within next few days, they added. Sources further confided that the PPP would support the PMLQ on the seat for technocrats and the PMLQ would support the PPP on seat for women in Senate elections.
It may be noted that President Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman PPP, deputed his sister Faryal Talpur to finalise consultation with provincial party leadership on expected candidates for the Senate elections. A number of names were being taken by the party sources and a few party circles also passed resolutions in support of their favourite ones. However, the party leadership recommended the names of two leading lawyers from Punjab.
