'US helping Pakistan to end energy crisis'

Deputy Director USAID Punjab Gail Spence said on Wednesday that the US wanted Pakistan's energy sector to strengthen hence, helping the country to end energy crisis. She further said that in addition to supporting improvements in the power distribution system. USAID was helping to renovate and complete several plants across the country and introducing energy efficiency measures in Pakistan, she added.
She was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the three-day human resource management workshop for the officials of the nine power distribution companies (DISCO's) organised by USAID Power Distribution Programme (PDIP) and the Department of the Business Management Studies Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). She said that these changes will be helpful in restoring or adding up to 1000 MW of power generation capacity by 2013 and would help reduce power outages across the country.
