Ministers' absence irks Senators

Treasury as well as opposition members in the Senate on Wednesday showed strong resentment over the absence of ministers and wanted ruling of the chairman. When the proceedings began, ministers were present but gradually they started leaving the House. The front row where the ministers use to sit were seen empty after few moments.
While seeing the vacant seats, Deputy Chairman Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali said, "To whom I shall convey, who will listen and how I will make him listen." Senator Muhammad Kazim Khan of PPP said, "Mr Chairman, the ministers should be sacked." "Yes, they should be suspended for six months then there will be election, Jan Jamali said. Colonel Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi (R) of MQM said he did not see the face of half of the ministers. "It is breach of privilege of the House. It is contempt of the House of the ministers and it should be treated as contempt of the court also," he said.
Senator Muhammad Kazim Khan said the opposition should also raise voice on the absence of ministers. Abdul Haseeb Khan of MQM said the Leader of the House should bring to the notice of the Prime Minister the absence. On it, Mushahid Ullah Khan of PML-N said the Chairman has said many a time that he will ensure that ministers are present in the House. "I also brought it to the notice of the Prime Minster but in vain," he added. He said the Prime Minister and minister would attend the House if Veena Malik made Senator or Deputy Chairman of the Senate. Deputy Chairman Jan Jamali adjourned the House till today (Thursday) at 10:30am.
