Prime Minister leaves for Davos

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday left for Davos, Switzerland to attend the annual World Economic Forum, being held in Davos from 25 to 29 January 2012. He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Senator Abbas Khan Afridi.
The Prime Minister will have extensive interaction with world political and corporate leaders at the forum, and participate in an interaction session on "Adapting to Climate Risk" and "Informal Gathering of World Economic Leader" (IGWEL). On the margins of the WEF, the Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the President of Azerbaijan, the President of Switzerland, the Prime Minister of Denmark, the Prime Minister of Thailand and Bill Gates, Chairman Microsoft Corporation. He will also hold meetings with Director General, World Health Organisation (WHO), Founder and Executive Director of the WEF, as well as United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The Prime Minister will also host a business lunch on January 28, which will be attended by business leaders. The Davos World Economic Forum is an important annual event. Gilani will use the forum and his interaction with world leaders to promote Pakistan's political and economic interests. He will especially highlight the tremendous trade and investment opportunities Pakistan offers in diverse areas.-PR
