324 graduates of Bahria University conferred degrees

Some 324 graduating students were conferred degrees in the 8th convocation of Bahria University Karachi campus here on Sunday. The disciplines in which degrees were conferred included Business Management, Engineering, Computer Sciences, and Professional Psychology. Along with this, 7 gold and 6 silver medals were awarded to high achievers in different disciplines.
Addressing the convocation as chief guest, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila congratulated the graduating students and said both private and public sector universities have major responsibility towards the uplift of youth for sustainable development of Pakistan.
He said that students should use their knowledge and skills not only to achieve professional goals but also to reduce poverty and injustice in the country.
"Education is the most powerful weapon, and our educated youth can play their role from present challenges", the Admiral underlined, adding that education and development of youth in upcoming disciplines of global market requirements can bring a jump to economic growth of Pakistan.
The Naval Chief said that the present competitive world demands universities to lay equal emphasis on social and cultural development of society while focusing on academic excellence.
He said that Bahria University has made tremendous growth since its inception and its impact has been seen in education and corporate sector of Pakistan.
He said that present strength of 96000 students in Islamabad and Karachi campuses reflects the trust of parents in the education standards at Bahria University.
Earlier, Bahria University Rector Vice Admiral Mohammad Haroon (retd) said that Bahria University is fully committed to enhancing educational facilities in country and is well equipped to undertake expansion of educational program in future.
He said Bahria University is continuously expanding and strengthening in Karachi Campus to meet the growing demand of global and corporate market. Keeping this in mind, Karachi campus has recently started M Phil and PhD programs.
Showing commitment towards providing quality education, the Rector said that the university management is making all-out efforts to bring improvement in educational standards and it look forward for valuable suggestions for further improvement.
