Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has formed a response force to handle any disaster in the province of Punjab. Director General PDMA, Khalid Sherdil said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Command Control and Communication Center set up with the co-operation of European Union here at Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) building.
Khalid Sherdil said that all affairs of PDMA are being run under public partnership by adopting all modern methods. He added that 22 state-of-the-art villages have been established at a cost of Rs 1.56 billion for the rehabilitation of flood affectees, where all the basic amenities are available.
He said that one thousand tons food items have already been stored in those areas where ground contact system is disconnected due to flood and food is being supplied by air. These areas included Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and Essa Khel district Mianwali, which is disconnected to other areas being on the other side of the river.
