Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan opened here on Tuesday its first 'Learning & Development Centre' dedicated to Islamic banking in Karachi city. The centre was formally inaugurated by CEO Junaid Ahmed along with the senior management of the Bank.
Junaid said that with the establishment of this 'Learning & Development Centre' and the ongoing initiative to expand the Bank's branch network throughout Pakistan, there remains no doubt of Dubai Islamic Bank's clear intentions and long-term commitment to stay in Pakistan.
He told the invited press that the Bank's management and its shareholders have no intention of divesting any portion of its equity to the local investors. He shunned all such rumours on this subject and said that the main shareholder, Dubai Islamic Bank, UAE, is committed towards Pakistan and supports the Bank's rapid expansion program for the next five years, and beyond.
He said that Pakistan has plenty of room for the growth of Islamic banking industry as there is a major gap between the conventional and Islamic banking market shares. Head of Shari'a of Dubai Islamic Bank, Dr Muhammad Qaseem, said that the Bank has been continuously providing extensive training to its staff on Islamic banking since its inception in 2006.
However, with growing expansion of the Bank and entry of new staff, a dedicated facility for training was the need of the hour. The dedicated Training Centre would cater to the primary introduction to Islamic banking as well as specialised training on Shari'a-compliant products and services offered by the Bank.-PR
