Partly Facetious: Why don't let you Haqqani go?

01 Feb, 2012

"Husain Haqqani has left the country."
"Yes, as soon as the court took his name out of the Exit Control List."
"Why the hurry? He is not our Ambassador to the US any more?"
"His wife and children are there."
"Farahnaz Ispahani?"
"She is his current wife."
"Don't be facetious. Current indeed."
"Hey, that's the God awful truth."
"My friend, as our President repeatedly points out to narrow-minded people like you the mindset is what determines our behaviour and the language used. You are too focused on analysing current economic indicators, and so you refer to the current wife, but for your information current maybe a critical word to use for economic indicators but not of a wife."
"Why not?"
"Why don't you let Haqqani go! After all, everyone else has!"
"OK, but why is his current wife in the US? I mean doesn't she hold a post in the Presidency?"
"Let it go, it's all over."
"Why did Haqqani have to leave on the next flight exiting the country after the court allowed him to do so?"
"The Prime Minister was sick of playing the host. Anyway what's next?"
"Next, we look towards another scandal deftly handled by the PPP leadership."
"So, aik Zardari sub pay bhari."
"I can't say he is bhari on all but he has certainly trumped Nawaz Sharif time and again."
"He has his party under his control too."
"Correct, but to keep that control he needs to win the next elections."
"Roti, kapra aur makaan?"
"No, appointments, subsidies and budgetary allocations."
"Ah yes, indeed."
