The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought a report within three weeks from Chief Secretary Punjab in response to a petition challenging as many as 18 portfolios reportedly held by the Punjab Chief Minister. The petitioner, Noshab A Khan, contended that the chief minister had been holding the portfolios of 18 ministries.
The petitioner held the chief minister responsible for the failure of health ministry in tackling menace of specious drugs that caused death of more than 100 patients at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC). He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the CM to relinquish charge of ministries and give away portfolios to ministers as defined by the law.
